Craycle Snow Flake!

When designing this special snowflake model, we were inspired by a real snowflake photograph by Nathan Myhrvold. This 2025 special gift is produced in limited quantities and will be gifted with all orders until January 15, 2025. The STL file will not be shared and will not be reproduced.

The intricate beauty of snowflakes is derived from their crystalline structure, which is a direct reflection of the microscopic aspects of the water molecule.” —Nathan Myhrvold

With a delicate subject like snowflakes, time and temperature are of the essence to capture an intact object. With this in mind, Nathan developed an innovative technique to photograph the crystalline structure of snowflakes with great clarity and detail. The technique involves using flashing LED lights (not a standard process) to reduce the heat they emit and increase the speed at which he can capture the image. He works with a specially built snowflake camera, the world’s highest resolution snowflake camera. This snowflake is of the star dendrite variety, meaning its multi-branched appearance looks “tree-like.”
