Frequently Asked Questions

The contents depend on the model or digital product. Aircraft STL packages include the printable files required for the model, while add-ons and accessories include the files for that specific design. Check the individual product page and the supplied documentation for the exact contents and part names. If a design includes multiple versions or optional parts, they are organized within the download package.
Regular PLA is the standard choice for Craycle aircraft and is the material our models are primarily designed around. PLA+ can also be used, although weight and print characteristics vary between brands. LW-PLA may be suitable for some models or parts when lower weight is desired, but it is not required unless the individual model documentation specifically recommends it.
Available print files and profiles vary by product and printer ecosystem. When a Craycle download includes prepared profiles, 3MF files or printer-specific project files, they are supplied in the download package or identified in the product documentation. If your printer is not covered by a prepared profile, you can use the recommended settings from the model guide to create your own slicer profile.
STL files are digital print files and do not include physical electronics or hardware. The required motor, ESC, servos, propeller, battery, receiver and structural or assembly parts depend on the aircraft. Check the model product page and its PDF guide for the recommended electronics, hardware and component specifications before ordering the remaining equipment.
The best choice depends on your previous RC experience, preferred aircraft size and how you want to fly. Trainer-oriented models are generally the most suitable starting point. For a quicker recommendation, use the Craycle Model Selector to compare models based on your needs and experience level.
Craycle STL files can be prepared with modern FDM slicers such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer. You are not normally locked to one specific slicer. Use the settings and orientation information supplied with the model, then apply them in the slicer that supports your printer.
After purchasing a digital product, sign in to the Craycle account used for the order and open My Account → Downloads. Your available digital files can be downloaded from there. Keeping the same account for future purchases also keeps your Craycle downloads organized in one place.
Use the print settings supplied with the specific model rather than applying one universal profile to every part. Aircraft structures, flexible parts and small mechanical components can require different wall, infill, layer and material settings. Follow the model documentation and any included print profiles for the recommended values, then adjust only when necessary for your printer and filament.
